We Write the Travel Guide
You Actually Need.

TicketsHunters is an independent research platform. We test platforms, compare prices, visit destinations and publish what we find — including the parts that other guides quietly leave out.

How TicketsHunters Started

TicketsHunters was built out of a specific frustration: the travel content most readily available online is written to satisfy search engines, populate affiliate programmes and reinforce the assumption that the reader will book whatever is most convenient to recommend. After years of planning our own trips around guides that turned out to be incomplete, outdated or quietly optimised for someone else’s commercial interest, we decided to build something different.

The founding principle was straightforward enough to fit on a sticky note: write what is true, not what is convenient. If a hotel has been overpriced since a renovation it hasn’t recovered from, say so. If a booking platform is genuinely better for one type of travel and not another, say that too. If a sacred site turns visitors away for arriving in shorts, this guide needs to say that clearly enough that nobody turns up in shorts.

“Authority is earned by being right about the difficult things, not by agreeing with the comfortable version of every destination.”

That principle drove every article in our library. It is also why our editorial team has physically visited the destinations we cover — not as press trips funded by tourism boards, but as independent travellers booking the same accommodation and using the same platforms our readers use.

What We Stand For

Three values govern every piece of content on this site. They are not marketing copy — they are the criteria we use when we decide whether a paragraph stays in or comes out.

Honesty First

We include the weaknesses, the access restrictions, the dress codes that get visitors turned away, and the pricing that makes a destination less good value than it appears. If something is overhyped, we say so by name.

Verified Data

Every price, opening time, entry requirement and visa rule in our guides is sourced from official or verified sources. We update them when they change. We never publish ticket prices from memory without confirming them first.

Direct Experience

Our editorial team has visited the sites and used the platforms we write about. When we write about arriving at Varanasi by overnight train, or the Eiffel Tower queue at 9am in August, we are writing from notes taken at the time.

Editorial Independence

We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships. That commercial relationship never determines what we write. A platform receives the same assessment whether it pays us nothing or pays us well. Our reviews say what our testing found.

Depth Over Volume

We would rather publish one guide that genuinely prepares a traveller for what they will encounter than ten articles that make a destination sound more straightforward than it is. Quality is the only metric we use for our own work.

Respect for the Reader

Our readers are making real decisions with real money and real holiday time. We take that seriously. We write for an intelligent adult who wants accurate information, not a confident-sounding guide that quietly omits the hard parts.

How a TicketsHunters Guide Gets Made

Every destination guide and partner review on this site follows the same production process. It is more involved than most travel content, and that is deliberate.

  1. We choose the destination or platform, not the other way around.

We have never published a guide because a tourism board or a partner asked us to. Topics are chosen because our research indicates genuine reader demand and because we have access to the direct experience necessary to cover them honestly.

  2. We verify every factual claim from an official or independently verified source.

Ticket prices, visa requirements, opening hours, entry restrictions, dress codes and access rules are confirmed against official websites before publication. We include the source in our Sources section at the bottom of every guide so readers can verify them independently.

  3. We test the booking platforms we review.

Partner reviews on TicketsHunters are based on actual test bookings, real price comparisons across 30–120 route combinations, real customer service interactions timed and recorded, and real app experience assessments. We do not write platform reviews from press materials.

  4. We write in the editorial voice that reflects what we actually found.

The human editorial voice is not a stylistic preference — it is the structural requirement of honest travel writing. A guide written to satisfy a keyword brief sounds different from a guide written because someone stood in the Eiffel Tower queue at 11am and counted how long it took. We write the second kind.

  5. We review, update and correct.

Travel information changes. Prices increase. Dress codes are updated. Visa requirements shift. Our Last Updated date on every guide is accurate, and we revise content when the information it contains becomes outdated or incorrect.

The People Behind TicketsHunters

TicketsHunters is a small, focused editorial team. We do not have a hundred contributors producing a hundred pieces of content per week. We have a core research and writing team that moves slowly enough to get things right.

Our team has collectively visited destinations across six continents and has operated in every type of travel scenario covered by this site — from pilgrimage circuits through India and Japan to casino resort weekends in Macau, from overwater bungalow honeymoons to budget rail journeys through Southeast Asia.

The guides on this site are written by people who have made the same trips they are describing, made some of the same mistakes, and found out the hard way which booking platforms actually behave the way they claim to in their marketing.

We are based across multiple countries and time zones. What we share is a consistent intolerance for travel writing that sounds authoritative but is actually assembled from third-party sources, outdated information and optimistic summaries of destinations the writer has never visited.

If you have found an error in one of our guides — an outdated price, a changed access rule, a visa requirement that has shifted since we published — we want to know. Our commitment to accuracy is only as good as the corrections we receive and act on. Contact us directly via our Contact page. Every factual correction is investigated, credited and applied.

Our Affiliate Relationship Policy

TicketsHunters earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with travel booking platforms and services. When you click a link on our site and complete a booking, we may receive a commission. This never costs you anything extra — you pay exactly what you would pay booking directly.

Our affiliate relationships include, among others, Trip.com, DiscoverCars, AutoEurope, Agoda, Hotels.com, Viator, Aviasales, GetYourGuide, QEEQ, Klook, VisaHQ and VisaWebServices. None of these partnerships determine what we write. A platform that performs poorly in our testing receives the same honest assessment as one that performs well, regardless of the commercial relationship. Our policy is simple: if we cannot recommend a product honestly, we do not promote it, regardless of the commission rate on offer.

Every article that contains affiliate links carries a disclosure statement at the bottom. We believe our readers deserve to know when a recommendation might carry a financial benefit for us, and to judge its objectivity accordingly.

Our Promise to Every Reader

You will find the accurate version on TicketsHunters. Not the comfortable version, not the version that happens to sell the most convenient product, and not the version assembled from a press trip. The accurate version. Every time.
